TEACH ME YOUR WAY PDF Print

The psalmist says,

“teach me Your way O Lord...”

But is that what we actually desire?

His request may not be ours at all?

His way requires a longing to know... and a willingness to trudge.

I picture a determined traveler with machete in hand – willing to hack his/her way through the jungle for the sole reason of being closer to God.  Obstacles matter very little to the determined follower. They, like the psalmist, move forward no matter how dense and tangled the way becomes.

His request is likely not ours because we have grown accustomed to the instantaneous and the immediate.  We’ve bought into quick fixes bringing rapid changes and glowing results with minimal effort.  “Teach me Your way,” has been replaced with, “show me the destination” and I'll figure it out.

We must understand, however, that “becoming” cannot be made easy – it must always require whittling away the unnecessary and unfit.  It’s only after much instruction can we be taught where to actually begin.

If you think you’ve arrived – you’ve only just begun!

Do you truly desire to know the way... His way?
