What if I say something that you find objectionable?  What would you do?  How would you react?

There are, after all, many options open to you.  You could take an opposing view, presumably your own, and rail against my stated belief.  Or you could simply dismiss me offhand and consider my views unworthy of response – ignoring my very nuanced arguments.

These reactions are only a couple among many.  Jesus’ opponents however, were much more serious – deadly serious!

Our Lord’s disdain for man’s  tradition over His Father’s commandments led Him into numerous sticky altercations with the religious leaders.  His words and actions brought various reactions from the crowds – but interestingly, those run-ins never slowed His pace.  He continued in the face of opposition – and this is really what this blurb is all about. . . continuing!

Having convictions leads to definite action.  Taking definite action inevitably leads to conflict.  How will those conflicts be handled?  Violently?  Capitulation?  Ostrich-ization?  (Yes that’s right – sticking your head in the sand then pretending nothing’s happening).

I suppose all these options and more have been counted as viable reactions among true believers in the past who’ve held to any firm conviction.  But, and this is most important, what will you do?  How will you react?

Jesus says:
“So everyone who acknowledges Me before men, I also will acknowledge before My Father who is in heaven, but whoever denies Me before men, I also will deny before My Father who is in heaven.”  Matthew 10:32-33 ESV
